Melbourne City captain Aziz Behich and defender Samuel Souprayen were in attendance at the Bachar Houli Foundation’s annual Iftar dinner at the MCG on Tuesday night, joining a room filled with influential figures from across the sporting world, government, and Victoria’s Islamic community.
Now in its 12th year, the event saw 400 guests come together to break their fast during Ramadan, celebrating community, inclusion, and the power of sport to bring people together.

Melbourne City staff were also in attendance, alongside local City Club partner South East United, as the club continues its strong ongoing partnership with the Bachar Houli Foundation.
Behich, a proud representative of both Melbourne City and the Socceroos, featured on a special panel alongside AFL Executive GM of Football, Laura Kane, and Essendon defender Saad El-Hawli.
He shared insights into his career, reflecting on the honour of representing Australia at the World Cup, his experiences playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia, and the pride he takes in returning home to captain Melbourne City.
The evening once again highlighted the Bachar Houli Foundation’s impact in fostering leadership, diversity, and opportunity for young Muslim athletes.
Melbourne City is proud to stand alongside them in their mission.
