Andrew Redmayne

Goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne joined Melbourne City FC’s stable of emerging stars as the Club’s first new recruit for the 2012/13 season. In January 2013 he was promoted to first team ‘keeper and he has quickly made himself a favourite amongst the Club’s faithful.

Being number one is not something Redmayne is taking for granted, given how long and how hard he has had to work to ascend to the spot. His apprenticeship has been served with the AIS, Olyroos, two seasons at hometown club Central Coast before shifting to Brisbane for another two years.

Redmayne is appreciative of the instruction and guidance he has received from fellow professionals Bolton, Vukovic and Theo over the years. Enthusiastic to share his knowledge with ambitious young keepers in the community, “Redders” has become a regular at the MHFC community coaching clinics. “It’s been a long journey but I’ve learned a lot along the way and it’s made me who I am today,” he said. Andrew’s humble vehicle suggests that the fame is not going to his head. This gloveman still drives the car with the NSW number plate “Redders” he got from his mum for his 21st birthday. The blue Corolla hatch journeyed with him to Brisbane and again down to Melbourne. “It’s a little bit of home”, he said, to take around the country with him.
