Melbourne City Women’s stars Steph Catley, Lydia Williams, Kyah Simon, Alanna Kennedy and Larissa Crummer have been named in the Westfield Matildas 21-player-squad for the upcoming two-match International Series against China PR.
Fresh from two consecutive home wins against Melbourne Victory and the Newcastle Jets in the W-League, City’s Matildas will return to AAMI Park to face China on Wednesday 22nd November, before concluding the two-match series at Simonds Stadium in Geelong only four days later.
Catley, Williams and Kennedy return to international duty after helping the Matildas to a historic series win over Brazil in September in front of bumper crowds in New South Wales.
Matildas stalwart Simon returns to the national team set-up in blistering form after missing out on the Australia’s Tournament of Nations success and the series against Brazil through injury, netting twice in three W-League matches during an impressive start to life in City colours.
She is joined by young striker Crummer, who returns to the international scene for the first time since the 2016 Rio Olympics after overcoming a difficult run of injuries over the past 12 months. Crummer opened her goal-scoring account for City in the W-League this season with a brace in Sunday’s 5-2 win over Newcastle Jets.
Both of the Westfield Matildas’ matches against China PR will be broadcast LIVE on FOX SPORTS and SBS VICELAND.
