Melbourne Heart FC midfielder Josip Skoko has been ruled out for at least a month after sustaining a hamstring injury during the Club-s match with the Newcastle Jets on Friday night.
Skoko was sidelined during the first 20 minutes of the round two match-up and underwent scans on Saturday morning, which confirmed the 51-time Socceroo will be unavailable for selection until September.
General Manager, Football Operations John Didulica said: “The injury itself is not hugely serious however we are mindful that we are only at the beginning of a long, 30-round season season.
“While there is always a temptation to rush back your best players, we have decided to take a conservative approach to ensure Josip is able to return to action as fit as possible.
“He has immediately commenced his rehabilitation program and we look forward to him returning to the park once he meets the benchmarking set by the High Performance team.”
