It’s the news that we’ve all been waiting for – football is back! Speaking on behalf of the staff and the players at the Club, I can assure you that we’re all extremely excited to be able to finish the 2019/20 season. It’s a fantastic opportunity for all Melbourne City fans to come together and look forward to seeing the boys challenge for the finals and hopefully secure a place in Asia for next season.
Whilst all of the finer details are currently being agreed between the Government, the FFA and Fox Sports, we do know that we will have to play out the remaining games and a shortened finals series behind closed doors as a result of the restrictions. The plan for these matches will be based on a hub environment and I expect to be able to update you on the fixture dates and location of the matches very shortly.
We are also finalising our new Cityzens Giving charitable campaign. We are partnering with the leading food rescue charity, Second Bite, and will be setting up pre-school and after-school programs to help feed, educate and train young Melburnians who have been hit hard by the pandemic. Keep an eye out for more information on this and how you can get involved.
