Melbourne City FC is delighted to announce the re-signing of Captain Scott Jamieson until the end of the 2022/23 season.
Jamieson is a natural leader and fan favourite, who became the Club’s all-time appearance leader in last month’s semi-final triumph over Macarthur.
He has been one of the key drivers in the Club’s transformation both on and off the pitch, with his performances and leadership in the dressing room helping to create a positive culture and making a significant contribution to the Club winning its maiden A-League Premiership and Championship.
A regular participant in work with our charity arm, City in the Community, Jamieson is always willing to give back. After matches he’s always one of the last players to return to the dressing room, making sure to get around to all the fans that have stayed back for an autograph.
Melbourne City FC Director of Football Michael Petrillo said:
“Having known Scott since he was only 18 years of age and seeing him develop as both a leader and a player makes me extremely proud. We are really pleased that he has committed to another two seasons with the club.
“Scott has had one of his best seasons in a City shirt, in my opinion he has been the stand out left back in the competition. Off the pitch he has embodied everything we look for in a City player and has led his teammates to our first A-League Premiership and Championship.
“Securing another senior player once again shows the stability and culture that we have created at the Club. Scott’s signature shows that players want to be around the Club for the long term to continue to build on the success of this season.”
Scott Jamieson said:
“This is a very special group of players and to have the opportunity to lead them this season has been an absolute honour and I feel very humbled by the experience. To be able to win the Club’s first A-League Premiership and Championship, at home and in front of our fans is one of my proudest achievements.
“It honestly feels like yesterday when I first signed for the Club, but I’m already excited about pre-season. We all want to build on what we have already achieved and bring more silverware to the Club and for the fans.
“I can’t wait to see the 15,000 City fans at the Grand Final, back at AAMI Park next season.”
