Melbourne City FC can announce 19-year-old defender Ruon Tongyik has joined the Club’s Hyundai A-League squad for the 2016/17 season.
The centre back joins from Adelaide United where he was named their Youth Player of the Year and has signed on until the conclusion of the 2017/18 season.
While a physical defender, Tongyik possesses promising ability on the ball and is capable of playing throughout the defensive line and in a holding midfield position.
After arriving in Australia from Sudan in 2003, Tongyik played much of his junior football for Adelaide Olympic before joining Adelaide’s youth system and was a part of the Reds NPL promotion and NYL Conference A Premiership.
Tongyik joins Manny Muscat, Dean Bouzanis, Bruce Kamau, Nick Fitzgerald, Daniel Arzani, Anthony Caceres and Luke Brattan as City’s latest signings ahead of the 2016/17 season.
