If Robert Koren wasn’t already Anthony Zovin’s favourite Melbourne City FC player, he certainly is now.
Wearing a face mask of City’s marquee man with pride during half-time of the Club’s 3-1 win against the Central Coast Mariners, Anthony would soon be rewarded with an opportunity of a lifetime.
After being selected at random in the crowd, Anthony and his wife Silvia will take their first trip to the US, winning two economy class tickets to New York and a double pass to a New York City FC home game in 2016, courtesy of Etihad Airways.
Anthony couldn’t believe his luck when he saw his face come up on the scoreboard at AAMI Park.
“I couldn’t contain myself, I was jumping up and down like a madman. I was pinching myself and it was just a surreal moment,” he said.
“I had Robi Koren’s face mask and a matching shirt on, so I definitely looked the part. “He’s certainly one of my favourite players now, considering the role he has played in me winning a trip to New York!”
The Zovin’s will be travelling to New York in style, enjoying the luxurious Economy Smart Seats on Etihad Airways A380 jet and will enjoy a journey to the ‘Big Apple’ without delay by pre-clearing all US Immigration and Customs formalities in Abu Dhabi.
Along with witnessing the great sites New York City has to offer, Anthony is also relishing the prospect of seeing New York City FC in action at Yankee Stadium.
“It’s will be our first time to the US, so I cannot wait to head there and see what New York has to offer,” he said. “We will definitely head to iconic places like Times Square, but I’d also like to witness some NBA and Baseball matches.”
“I’m really looking forward to seeing New York City FC play. From what I’ve heard, the atmosphere at Yankee Stadium is incredible and I can’t wait to see world class players like Frank Lampard and Andrea Pirlo play in the flesh.”
A foundation member of the Club, Anthony was very thankful for receiving the golden opportunity.
“I’d like to thank the Club and Etihad Airways for making this all possible, and I would also like to thank the cameraman for singling me out!”
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, will commence daily A380 services between Abu Dhabi and Melbourne on 1 June 2016.
