Follow the results and action in day two of the Melbourne City Cup tournament.

Box Hill United SC and Kingston SC braved the blustery conditions at La Trobe University today to progress to the final day of the inaugural Melbourne City FC City Cup tournament.

The tournament involves teams of players aged 12 years and under from clubs affiliated with Football Federation Victoria. Each team competing for a chance to travel to England and face Manchester City’s Elite Development squad next year.

A total of ten new teams were greeted with wet conditions at the Latrobe Lower Playing Fields, with Box Hill and Kingston emerging victorious to book a place on the final day of the tournament.

Kingston SC managed to progress from a tightly contested Pool 1, narrowly edging out valiant opponents Brighton SC, Ballarat Devils, Riversdale and the Eltham Redbacks.

Box Hill were the dominant team of the afternoon, conceding only one goal and scoring plenty more to overcome Mitchell Rangers, Peninsula Strikers, Richmond and Essendon Royals in Pool 2.

The spirit of the City Cup was well and truly on display, with all teams and players to be commended on the high standard of football and sportsmanship displayed on the day.

The tournament final will be played on Friday the 25th of September at the Elite Academy Pitch located at the City Football Academy.
