We’re keeping the Christmas cheer going as we gear up for a huge double header at AAMI Park this Tuesday evening!
Our City squads are both sitting on top of the table and will be looking to remain there as we aim to secure all six points come Tuesday.
Due to the extreme weather forecast, there’s been a change to the kick-off times. Our Men’s squad will first be in action at 5:30pm against Central Coast, before our City Women take centre stage against Perth Glory.
Both squads have now been named for Tuesday’s fixtures, and there’s a few big name inclusions that could be taking to the AAMI Park pitch.
Karly Roestbakken is set for her first City appearance after overcoming a foot injury that has hampered her since before arriving in Melbourne.
Captain Emma Checker has also returned to the squad following a bout of illness, while Hannah Wilkinson has now fully recovered from the quad injury that has kept her out all season.
Given Wilkinson has now returned to the squad, Maria Jose Rojas’ injury replacement period has come to an end.
Rojas will soon depart Melbourne to link up with the Chilean national team for a January training camp ahead of their important 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers. She will then return to train with City, before re-joining the club officially in mid-February when American attacker Emina Ekic’s loan spell ends and she returns to her parent club Racing Louisville.
In terms of the Men’s squad, Nuno Reis has returned from illness, while young forward Arion Sulemani has been promoted.
