Jeggo suspended following Newcastle red card

Melbourne City will be without Jimmy Jeggo for its next two A-League Men’s fixtures.

The midfielder was shown a straight red card in the 70th minute of City’s 1-0 win away to Newcastle Jets on Saturday evening.

Football Australia’s independent Match Review Panel sat on Monday afternoon and determined that Jeggo would be suspended for two matches – the minimum sanction for the offence ‘Assault on a player (e.g. violent conduct when not challenging for the ball)’ under the A-Leagues Disciplinary Regulations.

As a result, Jeggo will be unavailable for selection until City’s Round 4 clash against Perth Glory.
