City secure Canadian striker Kathryn Harvey

Melbourne City FC is pleased to announce the signing of Canadian striker, Kathryn Harvey, who joins the Club ahead of the 2024/25 Ninja A-League Women’s season.

The 27-year-old joins the Club on a one-year deal from Fatih Vatan Spor in the Turkish Women’s Football Super League.

Prior to her time in Istanbul, Harvey made a significant impact in Denmark with AaB Aalborg, where she was the top goal scorer in 2022. The attacker netted 13 goals in 21 appearances, playing a pivotal role in helping her team secure promotion to the top tier, Kvindeliga.

During her second season with Aab Aalborg, Harvey made 14 appearances, scoring two goals, in the Kvindeliga.

Known for her athleticism on the pitch, Harvey is a dynamic striker who excels in finishing with both feet and has a knack for beating defenders one-on-one.

Her addition to the side gives City an attacking boost as they set their sights on the new A-Leagues season and the AFC Women’s Champions League Quarter Finals early next year.

Melbourne City Women’s Head Coach, Michael Matricciani, spoke about Harvey’s qualities following her signing.

“We’re excited to welcome Kathryn to our squad. Her experience in Europe and her ability to find the back of the net will further strengthen our attacking options.

“She’s a player who possesses great attacking flair and versatility in the final third, and we can’t wait to see her in action.”

Speaking on her signing, Harvey said she is ready to contribute to the Club’s aspirations.

“I’m really looking forward to playing with the team, the style of football that this Club focuses on is the most enjoyable football to play.

“I want to do everything I can to help the team succeed, and fans can expect to see a lot of hard work and passion from me on the field.”

City commences their 2024/25 A-League Women’s season this Sunday 3 November against Perth Glory at ctrl:cyber Pitch, kick-off 3:00pm.
