VIDMAR: I thought we were excellent

Aurelio Vidmar has praised his team’s performance after City secured an important win in Western Australia.

Ahead of the upcoming international break and City’s first bye of the season, Vidmar’s side secured their third win and third clean sheet of the season, with an impressive 5-0 win over Perth Glory.

A BIG WIN ON THE ROAD

“I thought we were excellent, we started the game off really well, we controlled it. I think we had a good spell in that first half well before we scored, that we probably should’ve [scored].

“We were very, very disciplined, and this is always a difficult place to come to. During the week, and even yesterday, we spoke about making sure they don’t get any momentum at any time because here once they start to get momentum, the crowd behind them, it can be really tough.”

ACADEMY STARS SHINE

“We desperately need those guys in the team [Andrew Nabbout and Marco Tilio], but that also gives opportunity for guys like [Medin] Memeti, Kavian [Rahmani] came on and made the assist, Ben Dunbar also came on and put himself about.

Kavian Rahmani makes his Senior debut.

“So they’re still learning, they’re still kids, they’re still getting used to the intensity of training, but I think the pleasing thing for us is that throughout the pre-season we integrated them within the playing style, the game model, so it’s not foreign to them, they might be at times a little bit late to make decisions but in time, with more experience, I think they’ve got a lot of growth.

“Zane, it’s his second start, he’s doing really well, still trying to adjust to the level, to the intensity and the speed, but that will just come with experience – he’s got a bright future.”

While our Men’s squad won’t be taking to the pitch next weekend, an action-packed City Fan Festival, presented by Federation University, is coming your way at the City Football Academy Melbourne – ctrl:cyber Campus at Casey Fields on Saturday 16 November. Find out more and don’t miss it!
