Championship-winner departs after three seasons at City

Melbourne City FC can confirm that defender Callum Talbot will depart the Club following the conclusion of his contract, ending a successful three-year stint in City blue.

Talbot made 85 appearances during his time at the Club, scoring once – a memorable long-range strike in the AFC Champions League against Ventforet Kofu.

A Premiership-winner in his debut season at City, the 24-year-old has been an ever-present member of the squad across multiple campaigns, playing a key role in this season’s Championship triumph.

He made 21 appearances across all competitions in 2024/25, starting on 15 occasions and contributing to the team’s strong finish to the season.

Melbourne City FC Director of Football, Michael Petrillo, said:

“Callum has been an important member of our squad over the last three years and played a key role in both our 2022/23 Premiership and this season’s Championship win.

“We thank him for his contributions at City and wish him all the best for the next steps in his career.”

Callum Talbot said:

“I’d like to thank everyone involved at the Club, as well as the fans, for taking me in from the start as one of their own.

“What a season we’ve just had with all the injuries and the resilience we had to show. I’m absolutely thrilled to have played my role in it and to have been part of something truly special.

“This Club has shown me what it takes to be part of a Championship-winning team, and I leave with great experience having learnt so many lessons.”
