Melbourne City Player of the Year returns for season 2025/26

Melbourne City FC is delighted to confirm that 2024/25 A-League Women’s Player of the Year, Taylor Otto, has re-signed with the Club for the upcoming season.

Otto embraced the role of Vice-Captain during her second year in Melbourne, elevating her game to new heights and emerging as one of the league’s standout defenders.

Forming a dominant central defensive partnership with Captain Rebekah Stott, Otto’s consistency and composure at the back were key to City’s impressive defensive record across both the A-League Women and AFC Women’s Champions League campaigns.

Her leadership and on-field presence helped guide the team towards back-to-back Premiers Plates, as she made it two silverware-winning seasons in as many years since arriving at the Club.

The 27-year-old also played a pivotal role in City’s AFC Women’s Champions League campaign, playing every minute of the knockout stages and calmly converting in the penalty shootout of the Final.

With over 50 appearances and six goals in City blue, Otto continues to be a central figure in the heart of defence as the Club looks ahead to the 2025/26 season.

Melbourne City FC Director of Football, Michael Petrillo, said:

“Taylor has been a hugely important member of our Women’s squad since she arrived at the Club.

“Her form in defence and leadership both on and off the pitch has been pivotal to our success over the past two years.

“A deserved winner of our Player of the Year, we’re thrilled to have her return for another season.”

Taylor Otto said:

“Right from the moment I walked through the doors, Melbourne City has felt like home.

“It’s such a special group to be part of, and I’m incredibly proud of everything we’ve achieved over the last couple of years.

“We’ve still got so much more to accomplish, and I can’t wait to get back to work and do everything I can to help bring more silverware to the Club next season.”
