Melbourne City was proudly recognised at Victoria’s Parliament House on Thursday following the most successful season in the Club’s history.
In a celebration of sporting excellence and community impact, City showcased the A-League Women’s Premiers Plate, the A-League Men’s Championship trophy, the A-League Club Championship, the latter awarded to the most successful club across both men’s and women’s competitions, and acknowledged the success of the Club’s Powerchair team.
The event was attended by Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, Steve Dimopoulos, Member for Cranbourne Pauline Richards and other MPs. Minister Dimopoulos spoke passionately about the growing popularity and importance of football in Australia, with a particular focus on the women’s game. He extended heartfelt congratulations to Melbourne City for their achievements on and off the pitch.
Melbourne City CEO, Brad Rowse, spoke about the Club’s vision for continued excellence across all facets of the organisation, from the Academy to the Senior teams, and highlighted the importance of City in the Community’s impact off the pitch.

A Panel of Champions
Guests, who included our young leaders, schools and community partners and MPs were treated to an inspiring panel that reflected the Club’s diverse and inclusive success:

- Lawrence Wong, a rising star and proud product of the City Academy. Wong opened up on the special season that was and looked ahead to an exciting 2025/26 season.
- Luke David, Melbourne City Powerchair Team Captain and a passionate advocate for inclusive sport. David acknowledged City in the Community’s commitment to the powerchair team and spoke about when the team was first established.
Celebrating Community Impact
Joining the event were students from Gleneagles Secondary College and Narre Warren South P-12 College, two of the many community schools that City in the Community works with. These partnerships play a vital role in engaging young people through football, supporting their development both on and off the pitch.
From classroom-based leadership sessions to active football programs, Melbourne City and City in the Community continue to empower students across Melbourne’s south-east, building stronger, healthier, and more connected communities.
