Melbourne City FC is pleased to confirm that Spanish goalkeeper Malena Mieres has re-signed with the Club for the 2025/26 season.
Mieres impressed in her debut campaign, establishing herself as a key figure between the sticks where she featured in 29 of a possible 31 fixtures across all competitions.
The 25-year-old showcased her shot-stopping ability, composure under pressure, and knack for big moments throughout the season, making several decisive saves in City’s push for silverware.

She kept 10 clean sheets across the A-League Women’s and AFC Women’s Champions League competitions, anchoring a defence that ranked among the league’s best.
Mieres’ performances were instrumental in helping City secure back-to-back Premierships and reach the AFC Women’s Champions League Final, two major milestones in her first season in Melbourne.

With her future now locked in, Mieres is set to remain a key figure as City targets further success on both domestic and continental fronts in season 2025/26.
Melbourne City FC Director of Football, Michael Petrillo, said:
“Malena fit seamlessly into our Women’s program last season, and the qualities she brings as a goalkeeper perfectly suit the way we like to play.
“Her return to the Club is a big boost as we look to maintain continuity in the squad, which will be key as we continue to push for more success in the seasons ahead.”
Malena Mieres said:
“My first season at Melbourne City was so enjoyable, particularly being part of such an amazing group of players.
“To lift the Premiers Plate and reach the AFC Champions League Final were both incredible moments, but we’re not done yet, and I can’t wait to be back for another season.”
