Lourdes Bosch departs City after breakout debut season

Lourdes Bosch will depart Melbourne City FC, with the Club agreeing a transfer to new National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side Denver Summit FC for an undisclosed fee.

Bosch joined City in 2024 on her first professional contract and quickly established herself as a key contributor during a historic campaign for the Club.

The Mexican midfielder’s creative spark and attacking intent were instrumental in City’s undefeated A-League Women’s regular season, finishing as the league’s top assist provider.

Her impressive performances earned Bosch her first call-up to the Mexican national team, capping off a breakout year that showcased her rapid development in City blue.

In total, she made 29 appearances and scored seven goals across both the A-League Women’s competition and the inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League, playing an important role in City’s run to the Final.

Speaking on Bosch’s impact and move abroad, Director of Football Michael Petrillo said:

“Lourdes made an immediate impact at Melbourne City, with her vision, attacking flare, and quality playing a key role in our success last season.

“This move is a significant opportunity for her, and one that we’re proud to have helped her achieve. It’s another example of Melbourne City providing a platform for talented players to springboard into top international environments.”

Reflecting on her time at City, Lourdes Bosch said:

“My time at Melbourne City has been a big step in my journey as a professional footballer. I’ve learned and grown so much during this chapter, and I’ll always be proud to have worn the City shirt.

“Being part of an invincible regular season, playing in the AFC Champions League, and earning my first international call-up are moments I’ll carry with me forever.

“To the City fans, thank you for being there through it all. Your passion and support made every matchday special, and it’s something I’ll never forget.”

Melbourne City would like to thank Lourdes for her contribution and wish her every success in the next chapter of her career.
