Melbourne City FC is pleased to announce the signing of Football Fern, Deven Jackson, ahead of the 2025/26 A-League Women’s season.
The two-time New Zealand international brings proven A-League experience to Melbourne, having previously played for both Canberra United and, most recently, Newcastle Jets – where she enjoyed a standout campaign that saw her claim the club’s Golden Boot.
The 27-year-old arrives at City at the peak of her career and adds valuable firepower to Michael Matricciani’s squad, with her creativity and eye for goal set to be a major asset in the final third.

Capable of playing across the frontline or in midfield, Jackson’s versatility will be key as City looks to claim an equal-record third consecutive A-League Women’s Premiership and once again look to challenge for AFC Women’s Champions League silverware.
She joins a squad already brimming with talent and international experience, including her New Zealand and now Club Captain Rebekah Stott, as well as Matildas Holly McNamara, Leah Davidson and Laura Hughes.
Melbourne City FC Director of Football, Michael Petrillo, said:
“We’re really pleased to welcome Deven to the Club.
“She’s a skilful and intelligent footballer who brings great experience and versatility to our squad.
“Her ability to contribute across several positions gives us additional flexibility and depth as we look to once again challenge on both domestic and continental fronts this season.”
Deven Jackson said:
“Joining a Club like Melbourne City is a massive opportunity and one I’m incredibly excited for.
“I’ve heard so many positive things about the Club’s culture, facilities and professionalism, and I’m really looking forward to being part of such a strong and ambitious group.
“I’m ready to get to work, meet the team, and do everything I can to help bring more success to City in both the A-League Women’s and AFC Women’s Champions League.”
