Al Jazira Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Abu Dhabi, named after the current Crown Prince HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
It was opened in 1979/1980 under the name of Al Jazira Stadium, and renovated during 2006 / 2009 and re-named as Mohamed bin Zayed Stadium.
The surface is grass and the current capacity is 42,056.
The stadium considered as an outstanding project in the region and the world for its unique architectural design and its multiple fully air-conditioned platforms and stages, and the excellent and smart design of the seats which helps the audience to watch the matches and events from a very close range.
The stadium is nicknamed “Glory Stadium” because it has hosted and witnessed many historical, important matches and victories for the UAE’s national teams.
The stadium hosted matches dueing the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship, and also hosted 3 matches in the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup, and hosted the 2010 FIFA Club World Cup along with Zayed Sports City.
The ground floor contains a VIP entrance, a lecture hall, three dressing rooms, health club, gym and offices. The first floor contains 32 bedrooms for the different teams’ gatherings and camps and for guests, and the second floor contains four dressing rooms for the players and two dressing rooms for the referees.
The fourth floor contains commentators’ rooms, the media cenre and the hall supervision room, and the new hall fits for more than 2,000 people.
