Melbourne City FC is pleased to announce that exciting young winger Danella Butrus has signed a contract extension through to the end of the 2026/27 season.
Already contracted for the current campaign, the 18-year-old has committed to a further year after an outstanding start to life in City blue.
Butrus arrived in September following a breakout NPLW season in which she was crowned NPLW Media Player of the Year and joint winner of the NPLW Gold Medal. Since then, she has made a seamless transition to professional football.

After debuting late in City’s Round 1 Ninja A-League fixture against Sydney FC, Butrus has featured in every match of the 2025/26 campaign to date, including extended minutes and her first senior start in the AFC Women’s Champions League.
Her impact was particularly felt during the Group A hub in Vietnam, where she showcased her full attacking repertoire – scoring twice, providing three assists (including winning two penalties), and consistently troubling defences with her creativity and directness.

Now re-signed for at least another season, Butrus will look to build on a hugely promising first few months as she continues her development within Michael Matricciani’s squad.
Melbourne City FC Director of Football, Michael Petrillo, said:
“We’re delighted to see Danella re-sign with the Club for another season.
“Her transition to professional football has been extremely impressive and is a testament to her attitude and work ethic. We’re looking forward to her continuing to improve over the next two years and believe she has a very bright future at Melbourne City.”
Danella Butrus said:
“Since I walked through the doors at City for the first time, it’s felt like home and a place I belong.
“It’s been amazing to be part of this group so far, and I’m really excited to see what we can achieve together.
“I’m proud to re-sign and can’t wait to keep growing and improving as a Melbourne City player.”
