Both Melbourne City squads will be back in action this weekend, with confidence high following wins in our most recent outings.
City’s Women will cross the Tasman for a Saturday afternoon clash against Wellington Phoenix at Porirua Park, looking to extend a strong recent run of form. Michael Matricciani’s side enters the fixture with wins in their last three matches, building momentum as the season begins to take shape.
After beginning 2026 with a hard-fought win over Sydney FC last weekend, City will be eager to continue that consistency on the road against a Phoenix outfit always tough to beat at home.
City’s Men are also coming off a timely boost, securing a much-needed three points midweek. Max Caputo’s early header proved decisive in a physical 1-0 victory over Brisbane Roar at AAMI Park on Tuesday night, snapping a frustrating run of results.
Attention now quickly turns to another home fixture, with Newcastle Jets visiting AAMI Park on Sunday evening as City looks to build momentum during a crucial stretch of the season.

Both Head Coaches have now locked in their extended squads, with plenty of continuity from recent matches and no confirmed omissions.
On the Women’s side, young talents Izabella Rako and Keira Sarris have been added to the extended squad ahead of the trip to New Zealand.
For City’s Men, Samuel Souprayen returns to the squad after being managed through the quick turnaround earlier in the week, while Ben Mazzeo has also been promoted to the extended group.
