A bumper Saturday night awaits Melbourne City fans, with both squads in action away from home across a busy evening of football.
City’s Men will kick off proceedings in Campbelltown, taking on Macarthur at 7:35pm, before attention turns west where our City Women face Perth Glory in an 8:00pm (AEDT) clash.
The Men head into the trip full of confidence following a stirring come-from-behind victory over league leaders Auckland FC last time out, while Saturday marks the second leg of an extended road trip for Michael Matricciani’s squad, who were forced to settle for a 1–1 draw with Brisbane Roar midweek.
Both Head Coaches have now confirmed their extended squads, with contrasting news across the two teams.
There are no surprises on the Women’s side, with the squad unchanged from the extended group named ahead of Tuesday night’s clash in Brisbane. The group continues to show strong continuity as City looks to return to winning ways in Perth and maintain its position near the top of the Ninja A-League table.
There is plenty to unpack for Aurelio Vidmar’s Men, however, with four inclusions adding further depth and intrigue ahead of the trip to Campbelltown. The returning Daniel Arzani has been named in the extended squad following his arrival, while Samuel Souprayen returns after being managed last week as he worked through a minor achilles issue.
Takeshi Kanamori is also in line for a return after missing the past three fixtures with a groin niggle, and Peter Antoniou has been rewarded with a promotion to the extended squad.
Unfortunately, Andrew Nabbout has been ruled out after suffering a calf injury during the second half against Auckland and is expected to miss a few weeks, while Emin Durakovic will also sit out this weekend after entering concussion protocols.
