TEAM NEWS: Squads locked in for Sunday’s away trips

Melbourne City has confirmed our squads for a big Sunday of football, with both our Men’s and Women’s sides set for important away fixtures.

It shapes as a huge afternoon and evening for City fans, with our City Women first in action against Western Sydney Wanderers in a 4:00pm kick-off, before attention quickly turns west where our Men take on Perth Glory from 7:00pm (AEDT).

Both Head Coaches Michael Matricciani and Aurelio Vidmar have named strong extended squads for their respective clashes, with key inclusions across both teams as we continue our push in the closing stages of the season.

For our City Women, there’s a significant boost with the return of Holly McNamara, who has missed the past two fixtures while on international duty with the Matildas at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup. With the Final against Japan set to be played on Saturday night, her availability will depend on her involvement at international level, but her inclusion provides a welcome lift ahead of a crucial clash.

Young midfielder Izabella Rako has again been promoted to the extended squads, while the remainder of the group remains settled as City looks to build on a strong run of form in the race for the Premiers Plate.

Over in the Men’s squad, there is also a major inclusion with Andrew Nabbout returning after a two-month absence due to a calf injury. His return adds valuable experience and attacking depth as City looks to build momentum following an impressive midweek win over Sydney FC.

Liam Bonetig and Lawrence Wong have both been promoted, providing further depth across defence and midfield, while Andreas Kuen will miss the trip to Perth through suspension due to yellow card accumulation.
