Melbourne City FC has secured the long-term future of one of Australia’s brightest young attacking talents, with Medin Memeti signing a contract extension through to the end of the 2029/30 season.
The 19-year-old attacker has continued to make strong progress since joining City’s Academy in 2022, earning regular first-team opportunities after making his professional debut in the 2023 Australia Cup.
Capable of playing out wide or leading the line as a striker, Memeti was named City’s Rising Star during the Club’s 2024/25 Championship-winning campaign and continued to build on that progress last season, scoring six goals across all competitions.
Earlier this year, Memeti became the youngest Men’s player in Club history to reach 50 appearances, underlining his rapid development and growing importance within Aurelio Vidmar’s squad.
Already with 12 senior goals to his name, Memeti has quickly established himself as one of the country’s most promising young attacking players.
A regular youth international, Memeti has also continued to impress on the international stage. He was part of the Young Socceroos squad that lifted the AFC U20 Asian Cup in 2025, before finishing as top scorer during Australia’s successful ASEAN U19 Championship campaign earlier this year.
Now locked in long-term, Memeti will continue his development in City’s senior environment, competing for opportunities within a strengthened attacking group as the Club prepares for another big domestic campaign.
Melbourne City FC Director of Football Michael Petrillo said Memeti’s development in recent years had been extremely impressive.
“Medin’s progress is a great example of what a talented young player can achieve in our environment with the right mindset and work ethic,” Petrillo said.
