Melbourne City FC’s Foxtel National Youth League side have been accepted into Football Federation Victoria’s National Premier Leagues 1.

The news comes after the FFV’s review of its National Premier Leagues saw four additional teams granted two-year licences into the league including Melbourne City FC.

The FNYL side will compete in the NPL’s second division alongside newcomers Moreland City, Eastern Lions, Nunawading City, Murray United and Melbourne Victory’s FNYL side.

Melbourne City FC FNYL Head Coach Joe Palatsides looked forward to competing in the league saying it was important for the development of the Club’s youth players.

“As a Club, we want to keep our young boys together.” Palatsides said.

“For us, the main focus is keeping the boys for 12 months of the year because that’s the only way they can get better.”

FFV will announce the league structure for the NPL 1 2015 by Friday 14 November, with draft fixtures for both the NPL and NPL 1 2015 competitions to be supplied to clubs by the end of November.
