Melbourne Heart FC and Football Federation Victoria (FFV) today launched the 2013 Victorian Premier League Grand Final at AAMI Park ahead of Saturday-s showdown in Melbourne.

VPL Grand Finalists Bentleigh Greens and Northcote City will face off in the final of Victoria-s top tier at 1pm as a curtain-raiser to Melbourne Heart FC-s second round Hyundai A-League clash against reigning champions Central Coast Mariners, which kicks off at 5.30pm on Saturday 19 October 2013.

Melbourne Heart FC CEO Scott Munn believes the occasion will provide fans of the Hyundai A-League and the VPL with an entertaining afternoon of football.

“It-s fantastic for us to be able to host the VPL Grand Final again this year,” Munn said.

“Last year was a massive success; there was in excess of 10,000 people [at AAMI Park] and it was a wonderful game.

“This year to have Northcote and Bentleigh Greens playing is something Melbourne Heart are very privileged to be part of and we would like to thank [FFV CEO] Mitchell Murphy and his team for making it happen.”

Murphy said that the Federation were pleased to partner with Melbourne Heart for the Grand Final.

“We-re also delighted to join forces again with Heart to make sure that the game is played on the premier ground for football,” Murphy said.

“You only have to look on social media that the players from both teams are very excited about the opportunity to play on AAMI Park.”

Murphy said that fans could expect an entertaining encounter between Bentleigh and Northcote, who faced off earlier in the VPL Finals Series, with Bentleigh prevailing in 2-1 in extra time.

“If the semi-final is any indication, this is going to be a cracking game and a very, very hard-fought contest,” Murphy said.

Melbourne Heart FC will launch a number of exciting activities at AAMI Park throughout the day including;
– ‘HeartZone- – a new fan engagement wifi platform available to fans
– Free kids clinic on Gosch-s Paddock (open to public)
– DJ Zack Rampage
– Melbourne Heart FC Face Painters
– New season home and away kit on sale from merchandise outlets
– MHFC membership pack collection from 4pm.
