Melbourne Heart FC signing John Aloisi has touched in London as the Qantas Socceroo legend takes the initial steps of his fledgling coaching career.
Over the coming weeks, Aloisi will complete the first in a series of UEFA coaching badges in preparation for his transition to the coaching game after a playing career spanning three decades.
Head Coach John van ‘t Schip is confident Aloisi-s time in England will ultimately be of benefit to both player and Club.
“The UEFA course is a great opportunity for John to start learning and get an understanding of the different methods and tactics used by various coaches around the world, as well as to begin making the change in mentality from player to coach,” he said.
“And I am certain Melbourne Heart FC and John himself will only benefit from this exposure to a different way of thinking.”
Aloisi is set to play an integral role in the establishment of Heart-s inaugural National Youth League side, helping to assemble the squad of rising stars which will take to the park in 2011.
And the former Spanish Primera Liga star has already actively commenced scouting, attending Victorian Premier League and State League games to gauge the potential of the next crop of youngsters to emerge through the local development system.
Van ‘t Schip believes Aloisi-s first-hand experience of a variety of football cultures will have prepared him well for the challenge of coaching.
“Having played in Spain, Italy and England, John brings a very unique perspective to the table and I feel he is well placed to help build our Club-s first youth team,” he said.
“John has already been out and about scouting for young players who have the necessary skill set to suit our intended style and philosophy which will ensure the Club is well prepared for when we begin building the team.”
