Friday night football is back at AAMI Park and we can’t wait! It’s been a wonderful early summer’s week in Melbourne and Friday will be no different.
Be there to enjoy the fun and colour of match day and head past City Square pre-match for your Stomping Ground Brewery beer, EA SPORTS FIFA 18 action as well as plenty more food and activates.
Hungry for three
After a blistering start to the season, our three point hauls have dried up the last three weeks and Warren Joyce’s side will be hungry to get back on the winner’s list, especially at home.
Errors creeped into our game last week as we dropped points to a resurgent Brisbane Roar away from home and a timely reminder to keep standards high may be the tonic for Friday night.
A vulnerable Perth Glory side stand in front of us for the contest and there will be no doubt that anything other than three points will be a disappointment.
Another epic?
Our fixtures against Perth over the last two seasons have seen goals galore and we may witnesses another epic on Friday night.
We’ve played the Glory the most of any other team in the league in recent times – with Finals Series and FFA Cup matches coming into the equation – and the sides have become familiar with each other over this period.
Although City’s defensive woes have somewhat subsided, Perth are still shipping goals and are ranked first for goals conceded in the league.
We’re hoping it is a one-sided contest however we’ll be cautious of a very dangerous attack that includes the likes of Diego Castro, Andy Keogh and Adam Taggart
Why you little…
There hasn’t been a game this season that Bart Schenkeveld hasn’t played well.
He’s fast, he’s strong and he’s technically sound on the ball while at the same time performing week in, week out which makes him an instant fan favourite.
He’s been tasked with some of the biggest jobs in the league so far – passing with flying colours – and will be tested once again this weekend against the likes of Andy Keogh and Adam Taggart.
We’re sure he’ll do the job and can’t wait to see him leave it all on the pitch against Perth
It Fitz, finally?
It wasn’t last week but we’re sure it’s going to be this week that Nick Fitzgerald notches his first goal of the season.
The forward impressed once again despite the result against his former side and is only one good play away from getting the monkey off the back.
What Fitzgerald hasn’t been providing on the scoresheet, he’s been adding to his assist tally and we’re sure that his hard work for the team will be rewarded with goals for himself.
Watch out for Fitzy on Friday because we think he’s going to explode!
