As we enjoy the of-fseason break in the W-League, we keep an eye on Championship-winning stars from around the globe.

Kyah Simon

In the NWSL, the ever-dangerous Kyah Simon played 91 minutes and provided one assist for Houston Dash in their 2-2 draw with Chicago Red Stars. Simon’s brilliant deft touch from inside the box allowed her teammate Kristie Mewis to hand the Dash a 2-1 lead, before the Red Stars hit back with an equaliser.

Alanna Kennedy

City’s ever-reliable centre-back played 90 minutes in Orlando Pride’s 2-1 win over Portland last weekend. Kennedy was a dominant presence in defence and worked tirelessly throughout the 90 minutes to nullify Portland’s attack.

Steph Catley

City captain Steph Catley played the whole match in Seattle Reign’s 4-1 win over Sky Blue FC, where she had a hand in the Reign’s first goal with a brilliant cross from the left that was met by a towering Jodie Taylor header.

Jess Fishlock

Welsh wizard Jess Fishlock has continued her brilliant run of form from the W-League, with the midfielder being named Player of the Match following a dominant display in the midfield which led Seattle to a 4-1 win over Sky Blue.

Lydia Williams

Alongside City teammates Steph Catley, Jodie Taylor and Jess Fishlock, Lydia Williams started her first match for Seattle in their 4-1 win over Sky Blue. Williams was dominant between the two uprights, making four saves.

Rebekah Stott

Representing Sky Blue FC, Stott started in the heart of defence where she would face the onslaught of a fierce attacking display from Seattle Reign. Despite her team going down 4-1, Stott can hold her head high following a gutsy performance.

Sofia Sakalis

A bit closer to home, Sofia Sakalis played a key role in South Melbourne FC’s 2-1 win over Box Hill United in the National Premier League. The teenager will be looking to continue her tremendous start to the NPL campaign as the season continues.
