Melbourne City FC will partner with SportsHosts this season, encouraging City fans to share their passion with people in Melbourne that are new to football as well as visitors from all over the world.
Based in Melbourne, SportsHosts is a digital platform that connects international visitors with passionate local hosts to attend sporting events around the world.
The fan-to-fan program allows City fans to help grow their fanbase and make new contacts by welcoming new people to matches and to experience all of the emotions and atmosphere that comes with following Melbourne City.
“I’ve hosted a couple of times and it’s been amazing,” said City fan, James Worth.
“Last season, I took four guests to a game and to see them get so involved made the match even better for me.
“With City Square and all of the other match day entertainment, they has a brilliant time.”
Last season, Melbourne City fan, Daniel Marantelli also kicked off the season with a bang, hosting a small group of international students at the round 1 clash vs Brisbane Roar.
“It was an awesome experience to host people from Brazil, Colombia and China,” said Marantelli.
“To see them cheering with Melbourne City scarves really made me proud of my team and my city and it’s always great to win over new fans from around the world.”
