ALW Team News: Newcastle v City

It’s been a while since our City Women last took to the pitch, but we’re finally almost ready to see them return.

Just five games remain this season, the first being an away trip to take on the Jets this Saturday.

While it may currently be a little adrift of Sydney FC and Western United, City will be hoping to kick-start an unlikely run towards the Premiers Plate with all three points this weekend.

Dario Vidosic is set to welcome back a couple of key contributors to the squad, with both Holly McNamara and Maria Jose Rojas included.

McNamara has been out of action for a little over a year due to an ACL injury last season, but her long road to 100% fitness is finally complete as she gears up for her return to the A-League Women pitch.

The international break saw City play a pair of friendlies which McNamara featured in, first playing 45 minutes and scoring twice against the Young Matildas, before seeing an hour of action against a City Academy team last week.

Rojas is another welcome addition to the squad, set to pull on a City shirt for the time since December after returning from international duty.

Her first stint with City saw her score four goals and pass off a further two assists, so City fans will be hoping to see more of the same on the run home.
