You know our return to competitive football is nearing when it comes time to reveal our kit numbers for the upcoming season.
With several new faces around the club this season, there are plenty of numbers that have been passed down from previous City stars, along with a few we haven’t seen for a while.
Kicking things off and fresh out of Serie A, midfielder Tolgay Arslan will be seen with the number 10 on his back when he makes his City debut. He follows on from 2021/22 Player of the Year, Florin Berenguer, who recently departed the club after five trophy-laden seasons.
Returning Club hero, Aziz Behich is back in his familiar number 16, following a decade in Europe. It’s a number that he wore for his last three season’s for Melbourne Heart, as well as for the Socceroos since 2016/17.
The new season will bring a throwback to a number City fans haven’t seen for years. Croatian attacker, Marin Jakolis, will take on the number 44 shirt – not seen at the club since Ross McCormack’s memorable 2017/18 in City blue.
Rounding out our new foreigners, French defender Samuel Souprayen will take on the number 26.
There are no surprises in terms of Jamie Young’s kit number, he takes over as our number 1 from Tom Glover who is now playing in the Championship with Middlesborough.
Fellow Australian signings Steven Ugarkovic and Terry Antonis will be seen in 6 and 17 respectively, while youngsters Alessandro Lopane (21), Patrick Beach (33) and Zane Schreiber (35) have also locked in their kit numbers.
In terms of our returning players, there are no changes to kit numbers. This includes defender Jordon Hall, who has re-signed for a further season after having made eight appearances over his past two years at City.
