ALW Squad Numbers: Who’s wearing what?

ALW Squad Numbers: Who’s wearing what?

With the 2023/24 A-League Women’s season right around the corner, we take a look at who will be wearing what number this season.

We kick things off with returning City legend, Rebekah Stott. Stott will wear the number 13 for her seventh season at the Club, the same number that she’s lifted six trophies in, having won four Championships and two Premierships at City.

Rebekah Stott will wear the number 13 for her seventh season at the Club.

Canadian goalkeeper, Lysianne Proulx, will wear the number 44 jersey in season 2023/24. The Canadian international joined the Club in the off-season after representing her country at the FIFA Women’s World Cup and is set to play an important role for the Club this season.

Canadian goalkeeper, Lysianne Proulx, will wear number 44.

Joining City from Scottish powerhouse Celtic FC, central defender Taylor Otto will have the number 5 on her back.

Midfield trio Tijan McKenna and Laura Hughes will wear number 19 and number 14 respectively, while goalkeeper Sophia Varley will wear the number 1 shirt.

Tijan McKenna will wear number 19 in season 2023/24.

In terms of returning players, there has been no change to playing shirt numbers.

We are also excited to announce the signings of midfielder Kiera Meyers and defender Leia Varley on scholarship contracts ahead of the season getting underway this Sunday.

Meyers was previously a ‘train-on’ member of last season’s squad and appeared on the bench on multiple occasions, but has now signed on as a scholarship player for the next two years.

Leia Varley, the younger sister of City goalkeeper Sophia, has previous A-League Women’s experience at Adelaide United, where she made five appearances in season 2021/22.

Leia Varley has signed a scholarship contract with City for 2023/24. She will wear #2.
