CALLED UP: Four City stars named in Young Matildas squad

Melbourne City FC quartet Tijan McKenna, Daniela Galic, Naomi Chinnama and Caitlin Karic have all been selected in the Young Matildas squad for the team’s upcoming October training camp.

Young Matildas Head Coach Leah Blayney has named a 23-player squad for the training camp, as the team continues its preparation for next year’s AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup in Uzbekistan.

The training camp will be held at the Home of the Matildas between 23 – 31 October.

Galic was named in Head Coach Dario Vidosic’s starting XI for City’s Round 1 win over Wellington Phoenix, as Caitlin Karic and Tijan McKenna made second-half substitute appearances. McKenna’s late cameo being her first A-League Women’s appearance in City colours.

The young City stars will join the national team following their Round 2 A-League Women’s fixture with Canberra United at AAMI Park on Saturday 21 October.
