Team News: Doubleheader squads announced

Both City squads will return to AAMI Park this weekend as we host a big doubleheader on Sunday.

Our Men’s squad will first continue their busy schedule when they face Macarthur FC.

This will be our third match in the space of nine days, with a pair of mixed results coming in new Head Coach, Aurelio Vidmar’s first two matches in charge.

Our most recent A-League fixture saw a strong 2-0 win over Sydney FC with Steven Ugarkovic and Jamie Maclaren on the scoresheet, but we suffered defeat in the AFC Champions League for the first time on Wednesday night.

A late Buriram United penalty saw the Thai side leave with all three points, so Vidmar will be hoping to see his team bounce back on Sunday.

Following the Men’s clash, our City Women will be looking to keep their undefeated start to the season rolling when they face Western Sydney Wanderers.

We were held to a draw for the first time this season last weekend after conceding a late equaliser to Western United, so Head Coach Dario Vidosic will be hoping to see a big response this Sunday evening.

It won’t come easy against a Wanderers side who will be desperate to record their first win of the season after a disappointing start to the new campaign.

Both Head Coaches have now confirmed their squads for Sunday, with a host of young talent in the selection mix.

Men’s winger, Mathew Leckie, continues to progress in his recovery from a knee injury sustained while on national team duty and is targeting a return following the international break.
