Team News: Squads confirmed for away fixtures

Team News: Squads confirmed for away fixtures

Away trips are on the cards for both Melbourne City squads this weekend.

Our Men’s team will first take on Wellington in Auckland on Saturday afternoon, before our City Women are in action away to Sydney FC on Sunday.

Aurelio Vidmar’s side will return to action following last weekend’s international break, which allowed some time on the training pitch for the new Head Coach to continue to implement his style of play.

Most recently our Men’s squad staged a last-gasp comeback against Macarthur, scoring twice in the final minutes to earn a point.

Dario Vidosic’s side have enjoyed a strong start to the season sitting second on the table and will look to continue their unbeaten start in Sydney this Sunday.

Both coaches have now confirmed their squads ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.

Speaking to media ahead of the squad’s departure to Auckland, Vidmar revealed that both Nuno Reis (quad) and Zane Schreiber (knee) are set to be missing through injury in the short term.

Holly McNamara will unfortunately miss the remainder of the A-League Women’s season after scans earlier this week confirmed a ruptured anterior crucial ligament in the star forward’s left knee.

There has been plenty of young talent included across both squads ahead of this weekend’s action to compensate for those injury absences.
