REACTION: Young gun nets hat-trick

Melbourne City and Young Matildas star, Daniela Galic, become the second-youngest player in A-League Women’s history to net a hat-trick when she put three past Adelaide United on Saturday afternoon.

Dario Vidosic’s side extended their lead at the top of the table to six-points after a comprehensive 5-0 win over the Reds in Adelaide.

Goals in the 15th, 27th and 34th minutes and an assist in the 31st minute saw the 17-year-old young gun steal all the headlines after her stellar Player of the Match performance.

The football world responded accordingly.

City skipper, Rebekah Stott, summed up the attacker’s performance in one word, sharing “unreal” on her Instagram story.

Fellow teammate Kaitlyn Torpey commented “hero” on City’s post as Caitlin Karic simply posted an emoji of a GOAT.

The DubZone panel were full of praise for the “teen star from another Galic-y”. Teo Pellizzeri said: “It really was a display of the quality of this young player who doesn’t even turn 18 until the middle of the year.”

“What I really love about her, is her composure… she just looks like the real deal,” Matildas legend, Alicia Ferguson said.

It was all love on City’s socials for the young star. City fan, Emma Thompson, said “so young and already a great player… Matildas star for the future,” as Vicky Rezo commented “Weapon…well done Daniela.”

City head to Sydney for Unite Round in Round 12, facing Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday 14 January, kick-off 5:00pm.
