Team News: City announces squads for away trips

Team News: City announces squads for away trips

Both Melbourne City squads will be on the road this weekend as we gear up for a pair of away fixtures.

Our Men’s side will take to the pitch late on Friday night (AEDT) in Perth against the Glory for the second time this season.

Following that fixture our attention will shift to Sunday evening when our City Women are in action against Canberra United, looking to get back to winning ways after a disappointing result last weekend.

There are plenty of changes across both squads this week, with plenty of excitement coming from Aurelio Vidmar’s travelling party in particular.

Mathew Leckie has been cleared to return from a hamstring injury and will make the trip west, while new signing Jimmy Jeggo has also been included.

Vidmar did confirm while speaking to media on Thursday that Jeggo wouldn’t start, and it would also appear unlikely to see Leckie thrust straight back into the XI.

Marin Jakolis won’t make the trip, but Vidmar was confident this will be the last fixture his team will be without the winger.

Nuno Reis has also been included in the squad after missing our last couple of matches while waiting the birth of his first child.

Looking across to our Women’s side for Sunday, the big inclusion comes in the form of Emina Ekic who returns from suspension.

Leticia McKenna has also been included and will be hoping to overcome the quad injury that kept her out last week, while young duo Kiera Meyers and Isabella Accardo have also been added.
