TOLGAY ARSLAN: It was an amazing evening for us as a team

Melbourne City made it back-to-back wins with an impressive 7-0 victory over Western Sydney on Tuesday night.

Following the match, City star Tolgay Arslan reflected on the crucial result when he spoke to the team at 10 Football.

“It was an amazing evening for us, as a team we had a great game,” Arslan said. “It reminded me a little of the Brisbane game.”

“When we connect with each other, we can hurt everyone in the league.”

After a difficult string of results, Arslan believes his side has turned the corner as they quickly approach the pointy end of the season.

“Of course, we’ve had some difficult weeks, but we were sticking together, we were honest with each other and yeah, the win against Wellington showed that we changed the direction and now we are on the right way,” he said.

“Everyone can beat everyone [in the A-League], if you step back you cannot win. That’s why we have to work hard, every game is a different game and I like to look game by game.

“Of course, if we perform like that, it’s hard to beat us,” he added.

Arslan’s first season in City colours has been one to remember.

The attacking midfielder has netted eight goals in the A-League following his brace against the Wanderers, making it 14 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions.

“Overseas I was playing more as a six and an eight… as a kid I was always a 10 and I just enjoy it, it reminds me of the best memories in football I had as a young kid and I’m just enjoying to be on the pitch and being more forward where I can be dangerous,” he reflected.

“To be honest, I’m here to win. I don’t care if I score or not, I want the team to win and as you could see today we had players from the bench and everyone took confidence and I would prefer this – Terry, Macca, Andy, everyone who came on played a great game and I think that’s what we need.”

City’s rescheduled fixture with Central Coast means the team won’t be in action until after the international break.
