REACTION: Terry Antonis nets absolute worldie

Melbourne City midfielder, Terry Antonis, has put his name in the conversation for the greatest ever City goal following his incredible strike against the Wanderers.

Antonis’ first touch was in his own half as he flicked it over his opponent with his left, before unleashing an absolute worldie with his right on the half-volley – giving Western Sydney shot-stopper, Lawrence Thomas, no chance.

The strike now sits in elite company alongside Orlando Engelaar and Tim Cahill, with lots of debate around whether it’s the greatest goal ever scored for the Club.

Hang it in the Louvre

City’s social team had some fun with the strike, tagging the official account of the Louvre museum, with an image of Antonis’ celebration alongside both Engelaar and Cahill.

Jamie Young opens up on how proud he is of his teammate following a tough year.

“People don’t know what sportsman sometimes go through… he’s had a tough year and then he goes and does that, that just shows the level of self-belief and the character he has,” Young said.

Tolgay Arslan, Callum Talbot and Max Caputo also shared their thoughts.

“I reckon it’s Puskas… show it to FIFA.”
