For the first time in a few weeks, both City squads will be in action and this weekend’s fixtures may well be season-defining.
Our Men’s squad will kick off the weekend’s City football on Saturday at home when they host Newcastle Jets.
Currently sitting a couple of points outside the top six although holding a game in hand, every fixture from here on out is set to be crucial.
Our City Women will be away to Perth on Sunday in what will be a Premiership-deciding evening.
All eyes will first be on the Sydney FC/Melbourne Victory game which kicks off two hours before ours. To be crowned Premiers, we’d need Sydney to drop points at home, before then getting three points ourselves against the Glory.
Both squads have now been confirmed as we edge closer to the weekend, and Saturday in particular sees some big ins.
Curtis Good and Mathew Leckie are both set to return after being sidelined from our big win over the Wanderers through illness prior to the international break, while young midfielder Zane Schreiber has also been promoted.
Our City Women remain relatively stable, with Dario Vidosic promoting a quartet of youngsters to the extended squad.
In injury news, Men’s defender Scott Galloway will unfortunately see his stint on the sidelines extended for the next few weeks after injuring his knee in training.
Women’s goalkeeper Sophia Varley has sadly been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to an ankle injury.
