HISTORY BOOK: City record biggest ever A-League Men’s win

Melbourne City re-wrote the record books with their 8-0 win over Perth Glory on Sunday afternoon.

Head Coach, Aurelio Vidmar, and his side, recorded the biggest ever win in the A-League Men’s competition as the team kept their finals hopes alive at AAMI Park.

Following the record-breaking win, we took a look back at three of our biggest wins in the competition – all three coming at home at AAMI Park.

City 8-0 Perth Glory

City were at their clinical best in front of goal against the Glory on Sunday afternoon, putting eight past the visitors.

Tolgay Arslan led the way with a hat-trick, as Leo Natel netted a brace alongside goals to Jamie Maclaren, Steven Ugarkovic and a Glory own goal.

As the race to finals continues to heat up, City sent a timely reminder to the competition. With two games to go, Vidmar and his men will look to secure all six points and a spot in the top six.

City 7-0 Melbourne Victory

Who could forget our 7-0 Melbourne Derby win? Simply unstoppable, Jamie Maclaren led the way with FIVE goals to his name after Andrew Nabbout opened the scoring.

Adrian Luna got in on the action late, making it 7-0 in the 87th minute against our arch rivals. The biggest ever Melbourne Derby margin.

City 8-1 Brisbane Roar

Sunday’s match wasn’t the first time City netted eight goals this season, as Vidmar’s side recorded an 8-1 win over the Roar just after Christmas.

The league’s greatest ever goal scorer was on the scoresheet again, with Jamie Maclaren’s hat-trick headlining the goals.

Leo Natel scored a brace as Curtis Good, Tolgay Arslan and Ben Mazzeo all found the back of the net.
