City Academy teams complete NPL Qualifying

Melbourne City’s Academy teams are preparing for their season openers this weekend following a successful period of qualifying in the National Premier League (NPL).

The structure of the Junior NPL system sees four separate regions – North, South, East and West. During the qualifying phase, the 12 teams in each region play each other once to determine which division they will compete in during the home and away season.

A successful period of qualifying saw all four of our Academy teams qualify for the top division – Division 1 – for the upcoming season.

City’s U14’s secured their spot in Division 1 after finishing their qualifying phase in second and remaining undefeated.

Similarly, our U15’s also qualified for Division 1 after finishing second. The team had a strong qualifying campaign, with the second highest goal difference across all U15 regions. Thomas Nasso was lethal in the front third, finishing as equal top goal scorer across all regions.

Both our U16’s and U18’s finished in first position, cementing their positions in Division 1. Our U18’s completed qualifying with the highest goal difference across all U18 regions.

Our 14’s, U15’s, U16’s and U18’s now begin their full home and away season, which will take place across 22 rounds.
