Melbourne City FC is delighted to announce the re-signing of Premiership-winning centre back, Taylor Otto, for the 2024/25 season.
Otto impressed after starting every game of the 2023/24 campaign and will be an important member of Head Coach, Dario Vidosic’s, inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League squad.
The American defender formed a formidable partnership in the heart of defence with City Captain, Rebekah Stott, helping the side record five clean sheets across the final seven matches of the season, conceding just twice enroute to securing the A-League Women’s Premiers Plate.
Otto becomes the Club’s first re-signing this off-season, joining the likes of the already contracted Stott, Rhianna Pollicina and Leah Davidson as key pieces of the Premiership-winning squad returning for the 2024/25 season.
With the challenge of AFC Women’s Champions League football in addition to the A-League Women’s season ahead, locking away Otto was an important piece of the puzzle according to Head Coach, Dario Vidosic.
“Taylor fit in seamlessly during her first season at City and we’re delighted to have her returning to the Club.
“Her partnership with Stotty was crucial to our success last season, and it’s vital that we keep that same stability going into such an important campaign both here at home, and in Asia.”
Taylor Otto said she was excited to return down under after an impressive season in Melbourne.
“I immediately felt right at home as soon as I arrived last season, which shows just how great the culture is at Melbourne City.
“I had so much fun being part of this amazing group of girls and I’m so proud that we were able to win the Premiers Plate for our fans.
“I’m really excited to get back into training and looking forward to testing ourselves against the very best in Asia. The season can’t come soon enough.”
