Scott Galloway departs Melbourne City

After five highly successful seasons with Melbourne City FC, defender Scott Galloway will depart the Club following the mutual termination of his contract.

Galloway leaves City as a three-time Premiers Plate winner and one-time Champion. Since signing in May 2019, he made 106 appearances for the Club in all competitions, scoring seven goals, including the sealer in the 2021 A-League Men’s Grand Final.

A natural right back, Galloway also showed great versatility lining up as a left back and a winger when called upon, proving to be a key member of the A-League Men’s team’s most successful era.

Galloway would bring up a significant milestone in the 2023/24 season, becoming the eighth player in Club history to make 100 Melbourne City appearances.

The defender also played a significant role in another history making moment, providing the assists for Jamie Maclaren’s 100th and 101st career A-League Men’s goals in a 3-1 win away to Perth back in 2021.

Director of Football, Michael Petrillo, said:

“Scott’s been a great contributor to our success and an important member of our squad for the last five seasons.

“He’ll forever be a part of Melbourne City history, with his goal that sealed the Club’s first ever A-League Men’s Grand Final win that will remain in the memory of City fans for a long time.

“We thank Scott for everything he’s contributed, and we wish him all the best for the future.”

Scott Galloway reflected positively on his time at Melbourne City.

“When I arrived at City in 2019, I could never have imagined I would be a part of such a successful team. It’s never easy winning trophies, but to win four in my five seasons with such a great bunch of guys is really special.

“I’d like to thank my teammates, coaches, staff, and most importantly, the fans, for all their support. I’m grateful to have made some great memories.”

We thank Scott for his valuable contribution to the Club’s success, both on and off the pitch, throughout the last five seasons. Scott will always remain a cherished member of the City family.
