Paris 2024 Olympics: Rebekah Stott selected for third Olympic Games

Melbourne City’s Premiership-winning captain, Rebekah Stott, has been named in the Football Ferns squad to represent Aotearoa New Zealand at Paris 2024.

After missing the Tokyo Olympics due to her battle with cancer, Stott has been selected for her third Olympic Games, having previously represented New Zealand at London 2012 and Rio 2016.

The 31-year-old’s Olympic selection caps off a tremendous year for City’s most decorated footballer. Upon her return to the side, Stott was named captain before helping her side secure the Premiers Plate – her seventh piece of silverware with the Club.

She was recognised with the Players’ Player Award, PFA Team of the Season honours and A-League All Stars selection – where she captain the side against English heavyweights, Arsenal Women FC.

Stott is joined in the side by former City defender Katie Bowen. The Ferns have been drawn alongside Canada, Colombia and tournament hosts, France, for the Group Stage.

Stott and Bowen are not the only ones headed to Paris 2024 who have represented City. Matildas captain Steph Catley, and her teammates Kaitlyn Torpey, Ellie Carpenter, Alanna Kennedy, Emily van Egmond, Tameka Yallop and Teagan Micah have all worn the City shirt.
