The countdown is officially on to the inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League!
Thursday evening (AEST) saw the Preliminary and Group Stage draws held at AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, revealing our initial opponents in the race to be crowned Champions of Asia.
City won direct qualification to the Group Stage after taking out the 2023/24 A-League Women’s Premiership, doing so in dramatic fashion with a 2-1 win away from home on the final day against Perth Glory.
Seeded in Pot 1 for the inaugural draw, City fans were made to wait until the final moments before finally seeing our ball drawn out – landing in Group B.
This means a trip to Thailand for our City Women, set to face host team College of Asian Scholars, and Filipino Champions, Kaya FC – Iloilo.
We’ll also face the Winner of Group D of the Preliminary Stage, which will be held late next month.
