HERE TO STAY: McMahon inks new three-year deal

Melbourne City FC is delighted to announce that Junior Matilda, Shelby McMahon, has inked a new three-year deal with the Club.

McMahon first joined City as an injury replacement for Holly McNamara in January 2024, before the then 15-year-old showcased why she is regarded as one of Australia’s brightest young talents, quickly establishing herself as a standout youngster in the competition.

Bursting onto the scene as a reliable midfielder with composure beyond her years, McMahon netted two crucial goals in her maiden season.

A moment fitting of her debut campaign, McMahon’s first professional goal saw her net the sealer to secure City’s 2023/24 A-League Women’s Premiers Plate triumph, before she again found the back of the net against Newcastle Jets in the Semi Finals.

Joining a plethora of Australian youth internationals in committing to the Club, McMahon’s re-signing further strengthens City’s squad ahead of the inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League and the new A-League Women’s campaign.

Melbourne City FC Director of Football, Michael Petrillo, expressed his delight with McMahon’s re-signing.

“Shelby has been a revelation since joining us and we’re absolutely thrilled to have her re-sign for the next three seasons.

“She showed great maturity, composure and technical ability in her maiden season, as well as an enthusiasm to continue to learn and develop her game. She is an invaluable asset to our team for both the upcoming season and beyond.”

Shelby McMahon shared her enthusiasm after recommitting to Melbourne City.

“I absolutely loved my first season at City and learned so much in just a few short months.

“Being able to learn from my teammates has been massive for my development and I’m incredibly grateful to the team and the Club. I can’t wait to continue this journey together and help fight for more silverware in the A-League and the AFC Women’s Champions League.”
