Melbourne City goalkeeper, Patrick Beach, has been called up to the Olyroos squad for next month’s PacificAus Sports Football Series.
Beach will travel to Vanuatu to link up with the squad next Sunday in preparation for fixtures in early September against New Caledonia and the host country.
It marks his third Olyroos call-up of 2024, Beach having previously represented Australia at the WAFF U23 Championships in Saudi Arabia, as well as the AFC U23 Asian Cup.
One of the more senior members of the squad, the City shot-stopper will provide valuable experience to a host of younger players who will be coming into camp for the first time.
While still in the early stages of preparation, the tour provides an opportunity for Head Coach Tony Vidmar to work with players who will be eligible for selection at the team’s next major tournament; the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup to be held in Saudi Arabia.
“I think this is going to be a great experience for this young group of players, as they come up against two senior teams who are preparing for World Cup Qualifiers,” Vidmar said.
“It’ll be testing in what will be a new team environment for many, in conditions they haven’t experienced before.
“The players are still in the early stages of pre-season with their A-League clubs and we’re looking forward to what our overall program, along with these competitive matches, will offer for each of them individually and as a group.”
